(To Schuhplattel is to slap your Lederhosen as loud as you can in sync with your fellow Schuhplattler to accordion music.) Brews are downed, many Prosits (toasts) are made in traditional Oktoberfest fashion, and Bratwurst is enjoyed by the Burgers (Citizens).

The toast which is chanted at regular intervals throughout an Oktoberfest consists of the following text:

Ein Prosit, ein Prosit, der Gemütlichkeit! (A toast, a toast to geniality!)
