S-Bahn Bio

S-Bahn was formed in 1991 After Richard Theiss, returned to Vancouver after language and classical music studies in Toronto, during which time he sang with the Canadian Opera Company. Richard met Michael Dunnill (guitar, mandolin, vocals), and James Bartz (drums, vocals) in Vancouver. They still enjoy making music together, ever expanding their repertoire while strengthening their musical friendship.

Their music reflects the diversity of the city they live in, as they continue to please fans of various ethnic backgrounds at community dances, and cultural events like Oktoberfest (German) and Malanka (Ukranian) regularly across the Pacific Northwest. Recent appearances have included a spot on Vancouver Multicultural TV, "German Today" with host Bernadette Berry.

Would the band like to live anywhere else? Not really. Vancouver, Canada is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and one does not have to look far for musical inspiration.

Why the name "S-Bahn"? S-Bahn is the commuter train that connects cities in Germany with their suburbs. The S-Bahn connects people, all kinds of people. It brings people together. And It belongs to everyone.
